Our staff of Catechists are dedicated men and women come
from all walks of life and have been unselfish in their time and preparation
to share the faith with our children. We have individuals who graduated from
High School and College, From stay-at-home moms to full-time business
people, from teachers to students, they are responding to Jesus’ command to
teach all nations about Him. We are proud of Our staff of Catechists and
invite you to consider joining with us to do this most important work.

Coordinator: Paula White (Gr. 1-6) Grades 1-6, Choice of
Tuesday Evening or Wednesday Evening, 7 PM - 8:15 PM. ACTIVE Parish-registered
Families, with children attending Public School in Grades One through Six,
register for formal religious education. Classes are held on a once-a-week basis
from mid-September to early May following Public School Schedule. Students
coming from another program and New families to the Parish are required to
document prior grade level attendance. The textbook series used is BLEST ARE WE
, RCL/Benziger Publishers. Pre-registration is necessary. A special early bird
discount rate is given for fees PAID IN FULL by August 1st; Rates increase after
September 1st.
In addition, there is a Home-School based program called Generations of Faith (GOF)
which meets once a month for 3 hours. Families come together to pray, learn and
prepare for the material they will teach their children at home. Several
additional activities are required. For more info on GOF, call the Rel Ed Office

The Parish preparation for first reception of Penance and Eucharist begins
with a formal registration separate from both parochial school and religious
education classes. The enrollment meeting of Parent and Child is held in the
late Fall. In the Spring, Parishioners are invited to choose a child as a PRAYER
PARTNER, supporting them in prayer during this special time.
PENANCE
Students attending Second Grade are invited to be prepared for receiving
the Sacrament of Penance for the first time.. A Commitment Ceremony in
January begins the formal lesson time for students and their families. A
PEACE DAY retreat is scheduled. Celebration of First Penance takes place in
March for children who are satisfactorily prepared. |
EUCHARIST
Students attending Third Grade are invited to be prepared for First
Communion. A Commitment Ceremony in February begins the formal lesson time
for students and their families. A Teaching Mass and JESUS DAY retreat are
also scheduled. First reception of the Sacrament of Eucharist takes place in
May for children who have met program requirements satisfactorily. |
Coordinator: Judy Quinn (Gr. 7-10) Students in grade 7-10 attend two six-week
session of mini courses either Monday or Thursday from 7 PM to 8:30 PM. In
addition they attend a liturgy together, a special event, and must complete
three hours of service. The mini courses are selected by the students and are
relevant to their age and interest. The special events are different for each
grade level. Some of the topics have been Advent and Christmas, Lent and Easter,
Beatitudes, the Theology of the Body, Choosing Life. On the sixth session of
each group of classes, a Project Night takes place in which parents attend with
the students. The parents gather for the first hour to hear the speaker on the
topic related to adolescence. Then they proceed to the classes for a brief
presentation on what students have learned during the session. Progress sheets
are given, as well as evaluations for students and parents.
